As a ministry of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Little Lambs is committed to being a visible, active presence in the wider community through outreach, family events, our inclusive playground, and partnerships.

Little Lambs Helping Hands

Little Lambs Helping Hands is our outreach movement. Throughout the year, we have various outreach projects with the intention of creating opportunities for our Little Lambs families to give back and introducing the children to community service and the importance of helping our neighbors. Some of our favorite projects have been food drives and making sandwiches for the St. Barnabas Food Pantry, blanket drives in the winter, toy drives during the holidays, making cards for nursing home residents, and Socktober – a national sole warming movement to get socks to those in need.

Family Events

At Little Lambs, our family events create meaningful opportunities for individual families to come together for fellowship, support, and belonging. Parents are able to see how their children interact with their friends and teachers while families can connect and build relationships. These events strengthen community, promote parent-school involvement, and teach children the importance of working and growing together.

Annual Family Events:

  • Open House
  • Grandparents Day
  • Fall Family Picnic
  • Thanksgiving Feast
  • Christmas Program
  • Mardi Gras Parade and King Cake Party
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Pancakes with Parents
  • Pre-K Graduation
  • End of the Year Carnival

St. Barnabas Playground

Outdoor play is essential in early childhood, helping children build physical strength, coordination, and confidence while encouraging curiosity and imaginative play. For children in our program, the playground is a place where lessons learned indoors come to life through exploration, cooperation, and joyful movement.

Outside of Little Lambs MDO hours, the St. Barnabas playground serves as a welcoming space for families and neighbors in our congregation as well as the wider community. By opening our playground to the public, we reinforce our commitment to hospitality and welcome.

Little Lambs is currently working together with St. Barnabas to raise funds for a new playground! As both an educational resource and a community asset, our new playground will reflect the mission of St. Barnabas – to be a beacon of love in this community. Investing in this shared space is an investment in children’s well-being, family life, and the enduring value of a church that opens its doors and its grounds to all.

Community Partners

At Little Lambs, we proudly partner with organizations in our community to bring opportunities for our children to explore recreational sports while in our care. Both weekly programs, Tennis for Tots provides beginner tennis lessons, while Soccer Shots introduces the children to soccer. Through these extra-curricular programs, the children strengthen gross and fine motor skills while building character and confidence through active play.
